A Perky, More Youthful Bust
Age, pregnancy, breast feeding, weight fluctuation, and genetics can cause your breasts to sag, lose their shape, hang unevenly, or develop larger areolas. If you feel self-conscious about your breasts, you may be a good candidate for a breast lift by Tijuana aesthetic surgeon Dr. Rodolfo Castillo. A breast lift is not intended to significantly change the size of your breasts, but this procedure can be combined with breast augmentation or breast reduction for more comprehensive results. Contact us today to learn more about how a breast lift can enhance your bust line.
What to Expect
Before you undergo a breast lift, Dr. Castillo will conduct a thorough consultation and evaluation. During this appointment, he will determine your candidacy, explain the procedure, discuss your aesthetic goals, and take photos and measurements. The doctor may also require lab tests and he may ask you to stop taking certain medications before treatment.
Although a breast lift does not require an overnight stay, Dr. Castillo performs all procedures at a hospital to ensure maximum patient safety. He also works with a registered anesthesiologist who will select the best type of anesthesia for you. The procedure itself takes two to three hours. After carefully creating a subtle incision, Dr. Castillo will remove excess skin, tighten and reshape the remaining tissue, and reposition the nipple and areola. The nipple and areola will remain attached to the underlying tissue, but sensation and the ability to breast feed can be affected to some degree, and varies on a case-by-case basis.
Types of Incisions
There are three types of incision patterns that the doctor may use in your breast lift:
- Around the areola
- Around the areola with a vertical incision down to the breast crease
- Around the areola with a vertical incision from the breast crease and a horizontal incision along the crease
Prior the surgery, Dr. Castillo will explain your surgical options, based on your breast size, body type, and the degree of lifting required. In many cases, the doctor can avoid the vertical scar and perform a breast lift solely with a circumareolar incision. However, women with severely sagging breasts may still require the vertical incision. No matter which type of pattern you require, Dr. Castillo can create incisions that can result in minimal scarring. The incision will be closed with internal absorbable sutures.
